White cliffs

The white cliffs

After 2 hours squished in between a most enthusiastic Kai and Deva, we finally caught sight of the famous White Cliffs of Dover. Why are they famous you ask? Actually I’m not quite sure. I know that for some reason I’m quite familiar with them and saying “the white cliffs of Dover” seems strangely natural to me. Maybe it’s in a song, perhaps even a nursery rhyme. Nonetheless, if I were to guess – the White Cliffs of Dover probably were the first sight of

Fascinator

and Coffee couture….

I discovered the funniest thing today. As the sun comes out, and as the sunny weather is forecast for a few day in England, the fake tans make their ghastly appearance. I saw seven fake tans today. SEVEN!!!! Okay maybe because I’m from California and the fact that I live in Thailand probably doesn’t help my empathy, but honestly, HELLO, it’s obvious that you have a fake tan!!! Sunshine buzz

Sunshine buzz

Today was gorgeous. We had fine sunshine all day. What a relief, because I was seriously getting depressed. All of the ladies walked about town in their finest sundresses—If you want to wear it this season, you’d better seize the day, I tell you! English Stuff

What do Clarks, High Street and pavement have in common?

Answer: SHOPPING

Today we left the house and it was sunny, and then thirty minutes into the journey it was “tippin’ it down” with rain! This weather makes it very difficult to sell a sundress! Nevertheless we have managed to set up two fundraiser/sale events to relieve the orphaned cyclone victims in Burma. We are holding a one week sale (of summer clothes, so pray for sun!) in Wallingford and one in Marlow beginning

Henley Regatta

Henley Regatta

Scones and Pimms anyone?

I have just experienced England. The England we Americans know from our high-school literature classes—-There I was, a spectator in the famous Renoir painting, “Luncheon at the Boating Party”, basking in all things romantic and definitely all things posh.

This evening our family attended the Henley Regatta, quite possibly the largest regatta in the world and certainly the most famous. Not only did we attend the regatta, but we attended as posh members of “Phyllis Court” the
