HOPE Fair Trade Clothing – Where fashion is not a fad
Along with children comes clothing, and usually a lot of it! And so we followed the well-trodden path of shopping, buying, discussing, and sampling children’s clothing once our first was born. Given our history of and propensity for travel in far off places, it came as no surprise to those who know us well that before long we ended up designing children’s clothes with a focus on fair trade and family.
Welcome to our world, a World of Hope.
Here are the details of how our journey into the world of children’s clothing began:
HOPE, Fair Fashion in Action, was born after Gina and Greg Hope witnessed the natural spirit of giving and receiving one October day in India. Their then four-year-old son smiled broadly and handed his too-small clothing to a street boy in New Delhi. The transaction was beyond outward beauty, it was inner purity on both sides. Completely lacking judgment, it was the true nature of giving and receiving. HOPE, Fair Fashion in Action was crystallized that very instant and the plans for a clothing company based on global community began.
HOPE. It’s more than a name. It’s a way of living in the world.

Global:
HOPE is inspired by the world we live in. We inhale it’s people, its landscapes, it’s colors, it’s flavors, it’s very scent, and we exhale to create fashionable clothing symbolic of our traveling experiences. Hope believes in travel because the knowledge, acceptance and understanding of different ways, people and ideas is the very colorful road to a respectful, safer, kinder world.
Ethical:
HOPE, fair fashion in action’s manufacturing and business practices stem from a drive to unite global communities that span every culture and geographic boundary through charity, education and values based on human rights and dignity.
HOPE, fair fashion in action is a Fair Trade company. We pay a living wage and HOPE GIVES BACK to the communities in which we manufacture HOPE products.
Fashion Savvy:
Our designs express movement through our world. We keep our designs fresh by fusing global inspirations into single garments. The creative clothing that represent our travels are but an explicit moment in time that can be suspended, relived and shared with you through our designs.
Radiant:
Like the sun, HOPE shines bright. Whether it’s a HOPE team member in a crowded airport in Kathmandu or a child wearing a HOPE creation at the school assembly, we stand out. Like children, we radiate lightness and hope. We stand out & we stand up.

Highlights

- We started with just a sewing machine and a vision
- Our clothes are fairly traded in Thailand. HOPE pays a living wage and provides comfortable working conditions for its staff.
- Today we employ over 10 hard working women in our workshop.
- A percentage of our profits are donated to the 5-Alive Campaign (www.partnersworld.org) which keeps families in the jungles of Burma alive.
